Bet you didn't know.....

ANIMALS! 

  • Ants: They never sleep, and because they don't have lungs, they don't blink.
  • Cats: They spend 70% of their lives sleeping. Lucky cats!!!
  • Dogs: They sweat through their paws, not their skin
  • Octopus Power: They have three hearts, nine brains, and blue blood.
  • Blue Whales: They are the largest animal to have ever lived, weighing as much as 20 elephants.
  • GiraffesThey have no vocal cords and clean their ears with their 20-inch tongues.

 

SCIENCE & SPACE!

  • Lightning: A bolt of lightning is five times hotter than the surface of the sun.
  • Venus: A day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus.
  • Water: Water is the only substance on Earth that naturally occurs as a solid, liquid, and gas. What examples can you give of water in each state?
  • Clouds: Even though they look light, an average cloud can weigh over a million pounds.
  • DNA: There is enough DNA in your body to stretch from the Sun to Pluto and back 17 times

 

WEIRD STUFF!

  • Bananas: They are berries, but strawberries are not.
  • Eiffel Tower: It can be 15 cm taller during the summer. Can you explain how this happens?
  • Popsicles: They were invented by an 11-year-old boy in 1905.
  • Shoes: The plastic tip of a shoelace is called an aglet.
  • Sneezing: It is impossible to sneeze with your eyes open. Can you sneeze with your eyes open?
