80th VE Day Celebration
Victory in Europe Day
As part of our curriculum focus on British history on Thursday 8th May, we celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day). To mark this important occasion all children to come to school dressed in red, white, and blue. This is not a fancy dress day with no expectation to buy anything new.
VE Day commemorates the end of World War II in Europe, a day when communities across the UK came together in celebration and remembrance. It is a moment to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who lived through the war, and to help children understand the importance of peace and unity.
Throughout the day, the children participated in a variety of activities linked to VE Day, including themed lessons, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling. These activities were designed to be age-appropriate and engaging, helping the children to explore this key historical event in a meaningful way.
The Mayor joined us to celebrate this important anniversary and and thoroughly enjoyed meeting the children, watching them parade around the playground with their flags as did many parents and governors.
