In our school, whatever the challenge,

we aim high with God in our hearts

Spirituality

Our School Vision for Spiritual Development

Psalm 119 teach knowledge and good judgement.

“Spirituality is not something we can see; it is something we feel inside ourselves and it is about developing the soul and spirit of a person. It is about awe and wonder, asking questions, inspiration and can be shared or be very personal.”

At St. Stephen’s CE Primary School, we believe that we need to give all our children the opportunity to flourish into the people God is calling them to be.

We believe that it is essential to explore Spirituality by educating the whole child, providing opportunities to be still and reflect, to explore their own spirituality and to respect others' spirituality.

Spirituality enables our children to be happy, flourish and succeed and live life in all its fullness. This aligns with our school vision that all of our school community can ‘Respect, Aspire and Achieve’.

Key aspects of spiritual development as outlined in DfE-related guidance include:

Beliefs and values: Encouraging pupils to explore and reflect on their own beliefs (religious or otherwise) and values, and to respect the feelings and values of others.

Self-awareness and identity: Helping pupils develop a sense of identity, self-worth, and personal insight, and to understand their own strengths and weaknesses.

Meaning and purpose: Fostering an interest in life's fundamental questions, such as the meaning and purpose of life.

Creativity and imagination: Providing opportunities for pupils to use imagination and creativity in their learning and to express their innermost thoughts and feelings.

Reflection: Giving pupils opportunities to reflect on their experiences, the world around them (including the intangible), and the consequences of their actions.

Awe and wonder: Cultivating a sense of enjoyment, fascination, awe, and wonder in learning about themselves, others, the natural world, and human achievement
